Breathe of hope
Senior Year High School - GRECIA - Hellas - Aigaleo
The drawing (made on paper with acrylic paints, 21 cm x 30) represents the journey of the people who leave their own country to embark on a path not sought but forced. The woman deeply rooted in her land, represented by strong and warm colours, but surrounded by a white void, forcefully injects her breathe of hope into a latex glove that will be worn by the rescuer who will materialize the desire for a better life. The glove in fact represents a hand open and streeched to the acceptance and ready to open the door of Europe. - The woman rigid and stiff on the rubber dinghy has her face tumed towards the uncertain and incomplete horizon, her stillness reveals the anguish of those who leave in their land a piece of themselves and image for the future dead ends and winding alleys; the child has a sad look but the hand stretched out towards the fragile boat of paper, as if to want to grab it, and seems to mean that, even in the uncertainty and precariousness of the moment, he is ready to grab his own destiny to change it. This work was chosen among other ten works due to its originality and to the effectivness and impact of the message contained there in. It was realized by a group of three students but in order to gratify all the Italian and Greek students involved in the project that worked with great enthusiasm and commitment it has been decided to put all the names of the students as authors of this painting.
