For the “Porte d’Europa”(Gates of Europe)contest wethought of a work that would have a practical and useful purpose, not just descriptive and narrative. We thought of a website which would serve both those who want to donate, without any limits or restrictions, and those who need help because they may have just arrived in Europe. It is built in a simple and intuitive way to encourage donations. The homepage has straight access to the two main sections of the website. The “donate” section, where the 26 associations(international and smaller) to which one can donate are presented: for each one of them there is a brief presentation and a direct link to its website. The “if you need help” button, instead, is linked to a page where all the telephone numbers of various associations are listed and there is a small “emergency vocabulary” for people whom have just arrived in Italy. There’s a page dedicated to emergencies -at the Ukrainian one -containing phone numbers for hospitality and help, which will be constantly updated.In the light of current events taking place in the world, students of the Model General Lyceum of Heraklion, during Green and Literature lessons, discussed about Peace and War, Love and Hate. They read poems about Peace –written by poets Jiannis Ritsos and Nikiforos Vrettakos –and worked ingroups writing “acrostic poems” from the Greek word ειρήνη (“peace”). These are collected in a section of the website, which was called “creative lab”.The website is not optimised for mobile.
